His areas of research consist of identifying a biological based mechanism by which elevated exposure to complex mixtures of endocrine disrupting chemicals promote vascular cell dysfunction and its implications to brain vascular health, pulmonary vascular health, and the metastatic spread of cancer stem cells, as well as developing novel 3D human blood-brain barrier tissue culture to study gene-environment effects on aging and identifying novel redox signaling molecules involved in the maintenance of vascular stem cells and its application to aging.

Vukosava Pekovic Dr. She directed programs in the Institute of Public Health of Serbia prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases; health needs and services assessment , and the Miami-Dade County Health Department childhood lead poisoning prevention and bio-terrorism preparedness programs.

In addition to teaching, she is involved in MPH practicum oversight, accreditation, and advising for the Stempel Public Health Association and epidemiology students. The MPH is offered as two specializations: health promotion or health services management. The first concentration is health promotion.
