Next star fox game

I hope Nintendo keeps trying! The developer pitched the idea of a mash-up between Race the Sun and Star Fox, promising he would make a prototype of this game if his tweet earned likes.

Ok I probably shouldn't tempt myself like this, but is this a mashup you'd like to see? If I get likes on this tweet, I will drop everything I'm doing and spend a few days making a StarFox-inspired prototype with the Race The Sun engine. He spent a week making the prototype, and soon it became his full-time project.

That was back in March of , and the team has been busy ever since. Flippfly released a demo of Whisker Squadron for the current Steam Festival. While the game is still early in production and its current lack of optimization means that it often runs at the same frame rate as the original Star Fox, it was clear that San Fillippo and company managed to capture at least the basic look and feel of the original game.

We even have procedurally-generated bosses, which I think is virtually unheard of in video games. Personally I didn't see it working out. However, after seeing the Arwing gameplay in Starlink for Switch, I'm hoping the next Star Fox takes a bit more of Starlink's direction, even if it doesn't become fully open-world.

No part of the Grand Prix rumor ever mentioned it being an E3 thing. From what I remember it was projected as a game. I wouldn't right it off yet. Beyond that I'd really like Nintendo to further develop the Star Fox 2 gameplay. Such an ambitious game and I think there is plenty of room for exploration within that design. Also Starlink looks awesome and I'm super jazzed for it. In truth, I'm hoping that Starfox GP isn't a real thing.

It would be fun, no doubt of that at all, but the problem I see is that it probably wouldn't sell well. These days when people look at racing on Nintendo consoles, they'd probably just play Mario Kart. A Starfox spin-off would be great really, but I'm a little afraid that a spin off now would be similar to Metroid Federation Forces.

In the future I'd love to see a spin off or SFGP, but I'd prefer we have a real return to the series and get a solid, well-selling game first.

Generally, Nintendo doesn't like to present games too early unless they really have to. Some games, suh as the Kirby and Yoshi Switch titles, were presented fairly early, but they had little else to show for the console, so that's why. The Switch is doing very popularly right now, with lots of 1st party releases. Nintendo really don't have to release early footage of such a game anymore. Heck, all we've had of Metroid Prime 4 is a 10 second teaser title screen, and that was likely only released to shut people up from complaining "where is the next Metroid Prime?!

I've no idea how likely a Star Fox game is in prodution, period, but I wouldn't expect it to come out of the blue anytime soon.

Although, I will admit I'm a tad disappointed. Then again, with Dark Souls Switch just 10 days away, I don't really care about anything else right now. Terramax Posted October 8, Sideways Posted October 14, The inclusion of Starfox in Starlink is a nice touch, at least someone's still thinking of us.

I'll probably end up getting it and writing a review or something here. Create an account or sign in to comment You need to be a member in order to leave a comment Create an account Sign up for a new account in our community.
